Description: Employment programs, including Title V seniors in community services; employment placement of people 55 years old and older in subsidized part-time jobs; on-the-job training with not-for-profit government agencies; referral to employment opportunities for persons 60 years old and older seeking full- or part-time employment; and Job Training Partnership Act/Older Workers Program that provides training and opportunities with private-sector businesses for employment opportunities for persons 55 years old and older meeting federal low-income guidelines. Provides employment and training programs under the Work Force Investment Act, skill assessment and training; on-the-job training; basic education/GED preparation; youth employment training and job-search assistance. Applications for county employment must be submitted online at careers.chesterfield.gov. Computers and staff assistance are available at the Chesterfield County Administration Building, 9901 Lori Road, Room 303, Chesterfield, VA 23832. 24-hour automated service, touch-tone phone required. Virginia Initiative for Employment Not Welfare: Guides Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF) recipients in their transition to employment through job seeking and retention skills, on-the-job work experience, assistance with child care, transportation assistance and job-placement assistance.
