2003 was both a year of triumph and tragedy for the Chesterfield
County Police Department.
The loss of Officer Ryan E. Cappelletty will forever be etched in our memory
and we will certainly never forget the strength we gained from both Ryan and
his wife, Rachel. More
It is the vision of the Chesterfield County Police Department to continue
to provide the quality service to the community as a nationally recognized
leader among law enforcement agencies, utilizing state-of the art information
and policing technologies, attracting and maintaining professional employees,
consistently improving our quality of training, and demonstrating innovation
and operational flexibility. More
Tracing its origins to 1749, Chesterfield
County is a diversely populated county of more than 271,000 residents.
Central to the counties of Amelia, Charles City, Dinwiddie, Henrico,
Powhatan and Prince George, and the cities of Richmond, Colonial Heights,
Hopewell and Petersburg, Chesterfield County is situated on lands rich
in history and the origins of our nation. More
Department Organization
The Chesterfield County Police Department is organized into
functional command areas. This provides divisions that are manageable
in terms of size while structuring teams that are staffed with suitable
levels of expertise:

Volunteers are a valued commodity within the Chesterfield County Police
Department. In 2002 they contributed more than 16,800 hours and saved
the department nearly $260,000. More
The department is fortunate to have a strong partnership with our community
and our volunteers. Volunteerism makes a tremendous impact upon Chesterfield
County and America. Volunteers are a valued commodity within the Chesterfield
County Police Department. In 2003 they contributed more than 26,000 hours
of their time. More
