Fire Station #5 Midlothian

The Midlothian Volunteer Fire Department was founded in 1949 to help meet the needs of the citizens in the northwestern part of the county. The station, located at 13420 Midlothian Turnpike, was constructed in 1953 and is staffed by 12 career and 57 volunteer personnel. In addition, there is an Explorer Post with 20 members based at the station. In 1998, Station 5 ran 1277 calls for service in the county.

Unit  53

Unit 53, staffed by career personnel, is a 1991 Mack/Grumman. It has a 1,000gpm Waterous pump, 500-gallon water tank, is ALS equipped and carries a complement of Hurst Rescue Tools for extrication.

Unit  54

Unit 54, staffed by volunteer personnel, is a 1983 Mack. It has a 1500gpm pump, 500-gallon water tank, is BLS equipped and carries a 3,000 Watt generator.

Unit 59, staffed by volunteer personnel, is a 1976 Chevy C50 Squad. It is equipped with various lights and rescue equipment. Unit 59 is equipped to refill SCBA air bottles.
