Volunteer firefighters receive training right here in Chesterfield from State and Nationally certified instructors. To accomplish this, Chesterfield Fire offers two Volunteer Recruit Schools per year. The recruit school covers the material and certifications you will need to become an active participant on the fire ground and include the following:
The recruit school concept was developed in response to volunteers desire to obtain the necessary training in an efficient manner and start participating with their fellow volunteer and career firefighters. We hope that you will decide to join our team at Chesterfield Fire and EMS.
When you call 911 for a medical emergency, the rescue squads of Chesterfield Fire and EMS respond. Each squad has highly trained volunteers available at a moments notice. If you like challenge and excitement, being part of a team of volunteer and career professionals, and are willing to learn life-saving skills, give our family at Chesterfield a try.
No previous experience is required. You can receive your training at our state of the art training facility. Certified instructors teach CPR, EMT, Paramedic, Incident Command, Hazmat Awareness, and other courses. Chesterfield County is a leader in Virginia for pre-hospital emergency care.
We need volunteers to help us behind the scenes as well. If responding to calls just isnt for you, volunteer your talents to assist in the office, meal preparation, or helping others to discover the rewards of being part of a wonderful, caring group of people. For more information, call David Tesh at Chesterfield Fire and EMS (804) 748-1629 or e-mail at TeshD@chesterfield.gov.
