Eanes-Pittman Public Safety Training Center
The
Eanes-Pittman Public Safety Training center is a jointly managed state-of-the-art
training facility that was completed in 1994. This facility has classroom
and training areas specifically dedicated for Police Department training,
Fire Department and EMS training, and shared facilities. These shared
facilities are available for other county training. The Fire Department
has four, forty-student classrooms, including an electronically operated
fire simulator, a conference room and administrative offices. The Technical
Services Unit of the Training and Safety Division offers high quality
video and computer graphics work to support the mission of Fire, Police
and EMS training. The building also houses the Public Safety Television
Network. Shared facilities include a physical training area and locker
rooms; four shared classrooms with moveable walls that provide multiple
configurations for varying size groups; and a communications training
classroom with the capability to receive via satellite. This facility
was named after retired Fire Chief Robert Eanes and retired Police Chief
Joseph E. Pittman, Jr.
Public Safety Training Complex
The Public Safety Training Complex, which is currently under development,
is an adjunct training facility to the Eanes-Pittman Safety Training Center.
It will provide specialized hands-on training for police and fire personnel
under realistic, yet controlled and safe operating conditions. The first
phase of development, a small arms firing range, has been completed. Future
phases of development will include an emergency vehicle operators training
facility, a structural burn building utilizing the latest in fire training
technology, drill tower, L.P. Gas props, confined space simulators, support
buildings, and a classroom to facilitate on-site classes.
