National Night Out

night out 1
night out 2

I can not thank you all enough for the hard work that went into this year’s National Night Out.  Despite the hot weather we had 133 block parties registered and 3 regional parties that involved thousands of Chesterfield County residents. Just to highlight a few parties Hampton Park had 12 block parties registered.  Providence United Methodist Church, Bensley Community Center, Walton Park, Salem Woods had over 1000 people combined.  We had many first time Neighborhood parties, including 30 Apartment communities.

Again thank you for all the work and remember it is not too early to start planning for next year’s National Night Out on September 15, 2009. Note the date change.

We are confident the four following objectives were met:

  • Heightened crime and drug prevention awareness;
  • Generated support for, and participation in, local anti-crime programs;
  • Strengthened neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships;
  • A message was sent to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.

Bryan Miltenberger
Crime Prevention Officer

A Final Farewell from Officer Miltenberger

I wanted to let everyone know that August 22nd will be my last day as the Neighborhood Watch coordinator.

For the last 4 years, I have enjoyed serving you as the Neighborhood Watch Coordinator for the Police Department. It’s been full of friendships, memories, and accomplishments.

The hard work and dedication of watch coordinators block captains, and members have made my job much easier.

Together we have won awards, changed the face of neighborhood watch and solved many issues in neighborhoods throughout Chesterfield County.  The Police Department cannot function without the help of citizens and it is through your calls that crime and suspicious situations are solved.  In keeping with my career goals, I am moving forward to a position as School Resource Officer.

I will carry with me each of the special friendships I have had the pleasure of establishing.

I thank each and every member of the Neighborhood Watch program for your tremendous support.

Sincerely,
Officer Bryan Miltenberger

Resources for Neighborhood Watch Programs

I have received numerous calls requesting information about web pages or contacts that provide resources to Neighborhood Watch Programs.  The following web pages are great crime prevention resources.
