Law Enforcement Explorer Post 609

What is Law Enforcement Exploring?

Exploring is a division of Boy Scouts of America for young men and women. Law enforcement explorer posts provide opportunities for young adults to explore law enforcement careers, the criminal justice system and to promote character development and citizenship training. The Chesterfield Police Department established Post 609 in 1977.

What Types of Activities Does Post 609 Offer?

Training - Explorers receive training in a wide range of police procedures such as traffic control, crime prevention, investigative techniques and court procedures. They also participate in law enforcement skills competitions with other law enforcement explorer posts.

Career - Explorers learn about career opportunities in law enforcement at the local, state and federal levels. They also analyze criminal justice education requirements and visit various law enforcement facilities.

Community service - Explorers will be involved in civic events, crime prevention displays, traffic control and will assist police personnel with a variety of non-enforcement related tasks.

Ride-along - Qualified explorers may ride on patrol with officers on a limited basis to observe police work first hand.

Social - Explorers participate in sports, functions, picnics and field trips.
