Testing Information

Testing will begin promptly at the dates, times and locations listed on the calendar. No electronic devices will be allowed during any testing.

Local Testing

Local testing can only be scheduled by the Chesterfield County Police Personnel Unit after an application has been submitted.

Applicants who test locally must bring a completed background packet and a valid, government-issued photo ID to testing.

Local Test Dates

  • Friday, June 15, 2018

Out-of-Area Testing (Written Test Only)

Applicants who are taking an out-of-area written test must bring a valid, government-issued photo ID to testing, but do not need to apply or submit a completed background packet prior to taking the test.

However, your test results will not be processed until an application and completed background packet are received.

Written Test

Items needed for test

  • A valid, government-issued photo ID is required
  • Bring two #2 pencils and one black pen

The written exam consists of 169 questions in the following categories

  • Recall and visual details
  • Written communication skills
  • Reading comprehension
  • Bio data (information about you and your background)

Physical Test

For the physical ability local testing, come dressed in appropriate clothing, such as

  • T-shirts
  • Shorts
  • Sweatpants
  • Sweatshirts

It is imperative that your body is well hydrated and prepared for physical activity prior to participating in the physical ability test.

  • This process should begin prior to your scheduled test date.
  • If you have any questions concerning your capability to perform the test, you should contact your physician.
