Project Lifesaver

Project Lifesaver helps save lives and reduce potential injury for adults and children who wander due to

  • Alzheimer's
  • Autism
  • Down syndrome
  • Dementia
  • other related disorders

Each Project Lifesaver participant wears a personalized bracelet that emits a tracking signal, which enables trained rescue personnel to quickly locate them. In the last 18 years over 3,000 searches have been performed with a 100 percent success rate.

Qualifications

A person must

  • be a resident of Chesterfield County
  • have a full-time caregiver
  • not be allowed to operate a motor vehicle

Process

  • The police department will provide the radio-operated wrist transmitters.
  • Participants will be charged a one-time administrative fee of $360.
  • Once the contract agreement has ended, the transmitter will be returned to the police department.
