Picnic Shelters

Park Shelter  

Chesterfield County Parks and Recreation Department offers 22 picnic shelters located within nine parks throughout the county. A shelter is a 24-feet by 24-feet covered area with 9 to 12 picnic tables, and include different amenities from grills and horseshoe pits to electricity and nearby playgrounds.

Reservation Information  

  • Reservations are available from mid-March through mid-November and must be made seven days in advance.
  • Payment in full is due at the time of reservation.
  • Reservations for a party of more than 150 people are subject to Parks and Recreation approval and will incur a $1 per person additional fee.
  • "Reservation Calendars" are posted at each of the shelters indicating rentals for that day.
  • Grills and trash receptacles are provided at each shelter.
  • Park restrooms are available for use from mid-March through November.
  • Volleyball nets and horseshoe pits are included with a reservation with the exception of Daniel Park at Iron Bridge Shelter #1. (Equipment must be provided by the renting group/individual.)
  • Some shelters have electrical outlets. The Parks and Recreation Department does NOT guarantee electricity.
  • Special Event Permits may be needed to reserve.
  • Alcoholic beverages or illegal substances shall not be brought or consumed on park properties. Any person believed to be intoxicated or under the influence of illegal substances shall be excluded from the property.

Refunds

Refunds will be granted until two (2) weeks before the reservation date and must be requested in writing to the Chesterfield County Parks and Recreation Department. No refunds will be granted after this time. There will be a $25 processing fee on all refunds. Refunds will not be made in the case of inclement weather. Rain dates are available.
