Community Youth Forum
WHY
We Hear You
Community Youth Forum
The Community Youth Forum is an annual event that brings youths and adults together to discuss youth-related issues. This unique, open dialogue fosters ideas and solutions that can be used by
community leaders to continue to make Chesterfield County a FIRST CHOICE community. This
event also gives adults the chance to hear about issues from the perspective of our community's youths.

On Nov. 6, the 14th annual Community Youth Forum will be held at Manchester Middle School from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. The event, WHY? – We Hear You!, is a unique opportunity for youths and adults to discuss issues that are affecting young people in our community. The Youth Services Citizen Board, the Chesterfield County Department of Youth Planning and Development and the Midlothian Kiwanis Club will sponsor the event.
One of the highlights of this year’s forum will be Dr. Linda Hancock, director for the Office of Health Promotion at Virginia Commonwealth University. She is also a family nurse practitioner who has provided primary health care to college students at VCU for two decades. She is a nationally recognized speaker who uses high energy and humor to help audiences see health issues in new ways. Each participant will use a handheld immediate response device, or “clicker” that allows for fun and audience participation.
The goal will be to demonstrate the difference between perception and reality and use that knowledge to help youths make healthier choices.
