To Report an Anonymous Tip

If you have information about a crime and want to remain anonymous, contact CrimeSolvers or call 804-748-0660.

This form should NOT be used for:

  1. Any type of violent crime, including: personal assault, kidnapping, robbery (robbery is defined as taking from another by threat or by some force used), etc.
  2. Any type of sex crime, including: rape, sexual assault, etc.
  3. Any type of traffic collision or hit and run.
  4. Burglaries – If your house, garage, shed (any structure with 4 walls and a roof) was entered and items were stolen, this is a burglary and should be reported to 804-748-1251 or  9-1-1 (if it occurred within the last hour)
  5. Stolen vehicles or stolen firearms – Please call 804-748-1251 or  9-1-1 (if the theft occurred within the last hour)
  6. Duplicate cases – If you have already reported this incident to police do not fill out another report.
  7. Follow-up information – If you have already reported this incident to police and you have follow-up information, please contact 804-748-1269.

This form should be used for:  Non-emergency type reports only.

For example:
  1. Alcohol or Drug violations
  2. Destruction or Defacing of Property (Vandalism) - Damage must be less than $5000 and cannot include gang graffiti or potential hate crime.
  3. Fraud, Forgery, Embezzlement, Identify Theft Cases (including attempts) - Provided loss is less than $5000 at the time of the report.
  4. Larceny (Theft) (including attempts) - Loss must be less than $5000 and cannot include theft of firearms or of motor vehicles. The larceny must not have occurred by force.
  5. Larceny (Theft) from Auto (including attempts) - Provided that the vehicle was unlocked and no damage was done to the vehicle and no property was found at the scene not belonging to the reporting victim. Loss must be less than $5000 and cannot include firearms. 
  6. Lost Property - Provided the property was last seen in Chesterfield County. 
  7. Suspicious Incidents, people or vehicles. Please call 9-1-1 if this is in progress.
  8. Trespassing or Trash Dumping - On public property or private property of another.
  9. Telephone Harassment or Telephone Threats - Calls placed to a business or person in Chesterfield or from a person outside of Chesterfield to a business or person in Chesterfield. Not to include bomb threats or threats to burn a structure.
  10. Vehicle or Boat Tampering - Acts that would intentionally try to stop the vehicle or boat from being operated either temporarily or permanently.
