Absentee Voting

Voters who will be out of town on Election Day and voters who are elderly or incapacitated may be qualified to vote early. Click on the Virginia Absentee Ballot Applications link below to see the 19 acceptable reasons to vote by absentee. Please contact the office of the General Registrar for more information.

Absentee voting begins 45 days prior to the general election.

  • In-Person Absentee Voting - The Office of the General Registrar is open 9 a.m.– 5 p.m. on the two Saturdays preceding the general election in addition to our normal hours of 8:30 a.m. – 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
    The final day for in-person absentee voting is on the Saturday preceding the election.
  • Absentee Voting by Mail – Click on the appropriate link below to download an absentee ballot application. If unable to print, you can contact the Office of the General Registrar to have an application sent to you.
    The deadline for such a request is the Tuesday preceding the election.
