Dual Treatment Track

The Dual Treatment Track (DTT) is a court-ordered, pre-trial, jail diversion program, for dually diagnosed incarcerated offenders in Chesterfield County and the City of Colonial Heights. This program is a partnership between Chesterfield Community Corrections and Chesterfield Mental Health Support Services.

Who is eligible for services at the DTT?

  • individuals who are incarcerated, of pre-trial status, with a major mental illness AND substance abuse disorder
  • participants must have verifiable housing and transportation

What charges/convictions make an individual ineligible?

Individuals are excluded based on a prior record of pending charges of

  • violence (as defined by 17.1-805 and 19.2-297.1 of the Criminal Code of Virginia)
  • arson
  • felony sex offenses
  • felony distribution or manufacturing

What is the duration of services offered to clients at the DTT?

  • services are self-paced
  • core curriculum takes a minimum of nine months to complete

What services are provided at the DTT?

Services include

  • intensive supervision
  • outpatient substance abuse therapy
  • mental health focused groups
  • individual/family counseling
  • frequent drug testing
  • psychiatric services
  • Moral Reconation Therapy

Participants are required to attend

  • day groups on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday
  • psychiatric appointments at Chesterfield Mental Health Support Services
  • frequent drug testing

How can an individual be evaluated for DTT?

  • referrals can be made through the court, attorney, family members, or self-referrals 
  • ten business days are required to complete an evaluation
