This is an area responsible for ensuring that budgeted funds are properly accounted for and that the Sheriff's Office is in compliance with all purchasing guidelines. Revenue collection, preventative maintenance contracts and blanket purchase orders are monitored here. This unit also ensures a strong relationship with the Sheriff's Office vendors by promptly processing the thousands of invoices submitted each year. Additionally, this unit is responsible for the creation, implementation and monitoring of the Sheriff's Office budget and financial plan. Approximately 50% of the Sheriff's budget is funded through fees for services and revenues from the Commonwealth of Virginia, with Chesterfield County contributing the remaining 50%. This unit provides objective, analytical review of special departmental projects.
Information Technology is responsible for ensuring that the Sheriff's Office maintains a reliable computer network. They also serve as a primary troubleshooting contact for computer users in the Sheriff's Office. The most important responsibility of this section is to encourage the creation, development and use of innovative technology as a tool for employees.
This section is responsible for measuring, ordering and distributing uniforms and equipment for the Sheriff's Office and its personnel. Logistics also maintains the vehicle fleet for the Sheriff's Office.
