Juvenile Detention Home

All visitors to Chesterfield Juvenile Detention Home (CJDH) are subject to search upon entry. 

  • Visitors not wearing appropriate attire or who appear to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs will not be allowed entry. 
  • Hostile, argumentative, or disruptive visitors will be asked to leave immediately.

Parental Visitation

Parental visitation is limited to parents, stepparents, and legal guardians.  No other family members are permitted to visit without prior administrative approval. 

Picture identification is required for entry.


  • Wednesdays, 6:30-7:30 p.m.
  • Sundays, 3:30-4:30 p.m.

Alternate visiting times require prior administrative approval.

Items Not Permitted

  • Weapons
  • Purses
  • Keys
  • Cell phones
  • Cameras
  • Tobacco products
  • Lighters
  • Food and beverages
  • Mail – Can only be distributed through the U.S. Postal Service

The above list is not considered all-inclusive and CJDH reserves the right to prohibit any items considered a safety and security risk from being brought into the facility.  Please leave all items in your car or use the lockers provided free-of-charge in the visitor’s lobby.

Items Allowed

  • Money – You may leave money for the residents to purchase soft drinks and items from the snack machine on weekends
  • Medication – Please see Medical Services for more information on prescription medications
  • Any other items require administrative approval

Treatment Programs Visitation

Visitation times and admission requirements for parental visitation above.

In addition to parents, step-parents, and legal guardians, extended family (as approved), may attend the extended family visitation period provided for treatment programs residents.

Extended Family Visitation Hours

  • First Sunday of each month from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.

For additional information please contact the Case Manager of the program (Post-D/CPP) your child is participating in. 

Alternate visiting times require prior administrative approval.

Professional Visitors

Professional visitation is extended to:

  • Attorneys
  • Court Counselors
  • Probation Officers
  • Ministers
  • Social Workers
  • and other professionals


We will accommodate professional visitors 24 hours a day, seven days a week.  To avoid possible time delays please try to visit during the following times:

  • Monday-Friday, 8:30-11:00 am, 12:30-2:00 pm, and 3:30-5:00 pm

Police Officers

  • Police officers/detectives must have parental consent before visiting a resident
  • A supervisor or administrator will contact a resident’s parent/legal guardian seeking permission for police to visit their child
  • All weapons must be secured in the officer’s car before entering the detention home
