About the Emergency Communications Center

The Chesterfield County Emergency Communications Center (ECC) serves as the primary answering point for emergency and non-emergency requests within the county.

Our dedicated Emergency Communications Officers (ECOs) work 24/7 to

  • facilitate the flow of information between callers and county Fire & EMS, Police, and Animal Services
  • provide aid and instructions prior to the arrival of public safety field resources
  • assist with saving lives and protecting property

Check out the current openings at Chesterfield County Job Vacancies.

Our ECOs are certified in emergency medical dispatch and meet communications officers standards set by the Association of Public-Safety Communications Officials International, Inc. (APCO).

The Emergency Communications Center is accredited by

  • Commission of Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies Inc. (CALEA)
  • Commonwealth of Virginia Office of Emergency Medical Services (OEMS)

The Emergency Communications Center also handles non-emergency requests for assistance and information. The Emergency Communications Officers then dispatch the appropriate public safety personnel to handle the request.

Emergency Communications Center LogoDial “911” only when you have an emergency:

  • Danger to life or property
  • Medical emergency
  • Fire
  • Crime in-progress
  • Other life-threatening situations

If you dial “911” by accident, do not hang up!
