Effective January 1, 2006, Chesterfield County has eliminated the requirement to display vehicle decals.
The following local ordinance changes also become effective at that time:
- An annual registration fee must be paid for every vehicle, trailer or semitrailer garaged, stored, or parked in the County. The annual registration fee on each motor vehicle shall be $20.00, on each motorcycle shall be $10, and on each trailer shall be $6.50.
- New residents and purchasers of new or used motor vehicles are allowed a 90-day grace period, beginning with the move-in date or date of purchase, to register your vehicle.
- Registration fees are not prorated, nor are they refunded.
