Utilities - Voluntary Water Conservation Measures

For more information, Chesterfield customers can call 804-748-1271.

In response to the lack of significant rainfall in the area and the low water level of the James River, Chesterfield County is implementing voluntary water conservation measures. Chesterfield is participating in a regional effort that includes the city of Richmond and counties of Henrico, Hanover, Powhatan, and Goochland. These localities are all asking customers to voluntarily conserve water.

Lawn irrigation plays a major role in water usage. We ask Chesterfield customers to limit lawn watering to three days per week following an alternating-day schedule based on street address:

  • Addresses ending with odd numbers should only water on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.
  • Addresses ending in even numbers and locations with no street numbers should only water on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays.
  • Please refrain from lawn watering on Mondays.
