Court Security

Court Security is one of the primary responsibilities of this section. Deputies not only provides for the safe detention of those inmates within the courthouse awaiting trial. They

  • actively patrol the grounds and interior of both courthouses
  • screen individuals entering the courthouse for prohibited items
    • Items prohibited from entering the courthouse
      • Guns
      • Knives
      • Cell phones
      • Bullets
  • monitor all court proceedings constantly for potential problems 
    • are very knowledgeable about the functions of the various agencies within the courthouses and how they interact
    • are available to assist citizens during their visit to the courthouse.

Escorts on the courthouse grounds are provided upon request and initiated by deputies when deemed necessary for security reasons.

Civil Process

This unit

  • serves all civil process and criminal warrants directed to them by the court system. These papers include, but are not limited to  
    • subpoenas
    • notices
    • orders
    • complaints
    • summonses for both civil and criminal cases
  • supervises  
    • evictions
    • levies
    • seizures
    • public auctions
  • commits to roles usually performed by police patrols, such as working traffic accidents and making traffic stops
  • makes regular contact with assigned senior citizens throughout the county, who are involved with Sheriff's Seniors-In-Touch program
