Auxiliary Police
The Auxiliary Police Unit is a compliment of volunteer citizen police officers whose duties are to assist in the delivery of police services to the community for preservation of the public peace, safety and good order as stated and authorized by §15.2-1731, Code of VA.

Duties
- Ride on patrol with regular (paid) officers as backup
- Patrol
assigned areas with another Auxiliary Officer
- Provide assistance for department call-outs, for events
such as:
- Civil unrest
- Natural disasters
- Missing person/children searches
- Other assignments as required
- Patrol assigned areas during the Chesterfield County
Fair
- Patrol assigned areas, such as shopping centers or other
shopping/business areas, during the holiday season
- Assist in assigned parades, funerals, events, etc.
- Maintain crime scene security at criminal offense locations
- Provide security and traffic control at special events
- Provide logistic and personnel support for all units
within the Police Department

- Attend an orientation class held at the Eanes-Pittman
Public Safety Training Center
- Complete background worksheet packet
- Oral interview
- Background investigation
- Polygraph examination
- Psychological screening
- Drug test
- Medical Examination
- Review and approval from the Office of the Chief of
Police
