Inspections

The goal of any State and County fire code is the prevention of fires and the loss of life. It is the responsibility of the Fire Marshal's Office to ensure public buildings and other places of assembly comply with these codes.

Major Initiatives

Our ongoing inspection priorities are those that do not change from year to year. These priorities include public and private schools, daycare facilities, licensed educational facilities, group homes, movie theaters, restaurants, and nightclubs.

Special Initiatives

Special priorities are identified each year based on a target priority identified either in or outside of the county. As a result of the Rhode Island Nightclub fire in February 2003, Chesterfield has identified nightclubs as a priority for these special inspections. The Fire Marshal's Office has teamed up with members of the Building Inspections Office to conduct a comprehensive building inspection for compliance with the fire code and building maintenance codes.

To report suspected fire code violations e-mail firemarshal@chesterfield.gov.
