Domestic and Sexual Violence Resource Center

What the Center Provides to County Agencies:

Training
in the areas of domestic violence identification, dynamics, assessing risk, safety planning and community resources
 
Policy and Protocol development
guiding the search for and implementation of progressive best practices in community response to domestic violence.
 
 
Consultation and technical assistance
providing expertise on adapting individual and departmental processes involving domestic violence to meet local needs.
 
Data collection
promotion and development of methodology for collecting relevant data to better understand the magnitude of the problem and to document the impact of county wide responses
 
 
Awareness and education
promoting activities and to increase awareness and to educate staff and citizens regarding the prevalence of domestic violence and to encourage community involvement in stopping the destruction in our families and homes
 
 
Systems advocacy
provide a systematic audit that strengthens our response to domestic violence by building partnerships, increasing communication and inter agency collaboration, and by challenging the system to safeguard victims in all responses

Support Groups
There are two support groups for victims of domestic violence on Monday evenings

The Resource Center also provides direct services to county victims of domestic and sexual violence including:

A victim advocate is available to provide direct crisis, individual, group and court based advocacy services to domestic violence victims across Chesterfield County criminal justice and human service agencies.

The Domestic Violence Victim Advocate provides:

  • Individual Counseling
  • Information and Referral
  • Safety Planning
  • Legal Advocacy
  • Court Accompaniment
  • Assistance with petitioning for Protective Orders
  • Emergency Cell Phones
  • Technical Assistance & case consultation for county professionals
  • Community education and awareness
