Boards and Commissions- Agendas

The Chesterfield County Planning Department works with many different boards and commissions on planning and related land use matters.

Board of Supervisors Agenda   Planning Commission Agenda   Board of Zoning Appeals Agenda

  • Board of Supervisors:  Among its various responsibilities, the Chesterfield County Board of Supervisors makes final decisions on planning and related land use matters, including rezoning requests and amendments to the county’s comprehensive plan.
  • Planning Commission:  The Chesterfield County Planning Commission is a citizen advisory board authorized by the Virginia State Code to promote the orderly development of the locality and its environs by advising the Chesterfield County Board of Supervisors on planning and related land use matters.
  • Board of Zoning Appeals  (BZA): In Virginia, the Board of Zoning Appeals is responsible for hearing appeals from orders, requirements, decisions or determinations by the local zoning administrator. In addition, the BZA is responsible for granting variances from local zoning regulations, as well as issuing special exceptions under the local zoning ordinance.
  • Preservation Committee: The Chesterfield County Preservation Committee reviews and comments on applications for historic sites or districts. Once the Board of Supervisors has designated a local landmark, the Committee reviews all changes (other than routine maintenance) to the exterior of the building of site.
