Midlothian District - Dan Gecker
Dan Gecker was elected as the Midlothian District Supervisor on November 6, 2007, and began his term of 4 years on January 1, 2008. He was elected as the Board’s Vice-Chairman in 2008 and again in 2009.
Mr. Gecker has been active in community affairs in Chesterfield County since 1991. He represented the Midlothian District on the Chesterfield County Planning Commission from 2000 to 2007, serving as chairman in 2002, 2003 and 2007. Mr. Gecker was a member of Chesterfield’s Committee on the Future, a citizens group appointed by the Board to do long range strategic planning for the county and also served on the executive committee of the Capital Region Airport Commission.
Mr. Gecker holds a degree in economics from Princeton University and a law degree from the Marshall-Wythe School of Law at the College of William and Mary. He retired from the practice of law in 2004 to manage the tax credit syndication business he founded and to participate in the rehabilitation of historic structures. Mr. Gecker taught as an adjunct professor in the graduate program in Urban Studies at Virginia Commonwealth University for five years.
Mr. Gecker along with his wife Liz Gibbs, and their four daughters live in the Crestwood Farms neighborhood. He is a former president of the Crestwood Farms Residents Association. He has served on the board of Huguenot Little League, was a division director for FC Richmond Soccer Club and has coached numerous youth sports teams.
