License Inspector

Business License Enforcement Process

The Chesterfield County License Inspector will review your complaint to determine whether we are authorized to enforce any license requirement under our County Business License Code. Your complaint will be reviewed to determine whether a violation may have occurred. If a violation of the County Business License Code may have occurred, then an Inspector will be assigned to investigate your complaint. The state may be called in as well, if it is determined that a state license should have been required. If our investigation shows probable cause that a violation occurred, the appropriate action will be taken by this office. You will be asked to provide additional information, and should a summons or warrant be necessary, a request for witness subpoena will be issued to you to appear in the Criminal General District Court of Chesterfield County as a subpoenaed witness. We cannot force any person or firm to refund any money or to correct deficiencies, nor can we provide legal advice.
