Chesterfield County Government and Public Schools

Statement of Insurance and Self-Insurance

Chesterfield County, Virginia, a local government with Moody's AAA and S&P AA Bond rating, self-insures and assumes the following risks for it's local government and public schools:

  • Worker's Compensation
  • Automobile Liability
  • General Liability
  • Public Officials' Liability
  • Police Professional Liability
  • Professional Liability

The property risks are commercially insured.

Excess liability is commercially insured with a self-insured retention of $2,000.000.

This statement serves to certify both the accuracy of the foregoing information as well as the financial ability of the county to meet the obligation imposed by the retention level.

The county is prohibited by Virginia law from contracting to hold harmless or indemnify another party. Any promise to do so is void from the outset. No employee or agent of the county or public schools is authorized to make such a promise on behalf of the county or public schools.
