Waste and Resource Recovery

Convenience Centers

The county operates two convenience centers for household refuse disposal and recycling. These services are provided for county residents only. The two facilities are open seven days a week. The sites accept waste generated from residential homes including household waste, construction/demolition debris, brush and yard waste and bulky waste. For additional information, call (804) 748-1297. Additionally, numerous recycling options are available at the sites.

Convenience Center Locations

Northern Area Convenience Center
3200 Warbro Road, off Genito Road (near Hull Street Road)

Southern Area Convenience Center
6700 Landfill Drive, off Ironbridge Road (between United Rentals and Riptides Restaurant)

Hours

8 a.m. - 7 p.m., Monday - Friday
8 a.m. - 6 p.m., Saturday
10 a.m. – 6 p.m., Sunday

The Convenience Centers are closed on the following holidays: New Year's Day, Easter, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas.

Fees

  • Recyclable materials (aluminum, glass, metal containers, mixed paper [junk mail, magazines, catalogs, computer paper and office paper], #1 and #2 narrow neck plastic bottles and cardboard) - Free
  • Brush, grass clippings, leaves, etc. - $8 per load
  • Tires - $2 each (off rim); $5 each (on rim); $10 each (oversized)
  • Residential trash - $8 per load
  • Appliances
    • $10 each (non-freon), i.e. washer, dryer, stove, hot water heater
    • $15 each (freon), i.e. air conditioner, freezer, refrigerator
  • Construction and demolition debris - $15 per pickup load

All fees are payable by cash or check to the Treasurer, Chesterfield County.

Residents may purchase a Customer Value Card for use at the convenience centers for disposal of household waste only. Customer Value Cards may be purchased at the convenience centers or by calling (804) 748-1297 for information and an application.

Unacceptable Materials

Some items are not accepted at the convenience centers. These include ammunition, asbestos, stumps and brush over eight inches in diameter, commercial waste and infectious waste.
