Waste and Resource RecoveryAnti-Litter ProgramChesterfield County's Litter Program, part of the Waste and Resource Recovery Division, began July 1, 2004. This program offers two programs: Litter Collection Litter Volunteer Opportunities Adopt-A-Highway: Chesterfield partners with the Virginia Department of Transportation in offering this program. Citizens agree to pick up litter four times a year for two years. VDOT provides trash bags, vests, safety information, and highway signs that show volunteer commitment. Adopt-A-Spot: This program is coordinated by Chesterfield County. Organizations, companies and individuals are taking pride in their community by keeping a specific site free from litter. The Chesterfield County Litter Program will supply garbage bags and reflective vests. Based on Adopt-A-Highway, this program allows groups and individuals to adopt smaller and more secure areas, as opposed to busy roadways.
