Refuse (trash)
This volume based curbside refuse collection service is provided on an every other week schedule. Refuse tags are required on each 32-gallon trash can or tied plastic bag. A monthly service fee is billed quarterly and in advance of service being provided. The cost for this service is lower than most other service providers, if the customer utilizes the many recycling options that the county offers. Most recycling options are at no additional charge to the service user. For additional information regarding the county’s curbside refuse collection service, please contact the Waste and Resource Recovery Division at (804) 748-1297.
Fee Structure:
- $20 quarterly service fee (billed in advance of service being provided).
* Quarterly billing was implemented to help the division cover the cost of collection services as part of our pay-as-you throw philosophy. Using the curbside recycling program and our volume-based refuse collection program, you can save money!
- $2 for each refuse tag - sold in sheets of five. Existing red tags will not expire and may be put on cans/bags until used, in addition to the $20 quarterly service fee
- $1.50 for each yard waste tag - sold in sheets of five
If you wish to discontinue curbside refuse collection service, please notify our office immediately at (804) 748-1297.
See the Chesterfield County Trash Collection Calendar and the Trash Collection Map (Scalable, Zoomable Requires Macromedia Flash) to determine the day and week of pickup service for your area.
