Mental Health Support Services
Prevention Services

Prevention Services helps to strengthen youths and families by providing consultation, classes or public speaking to individuals, families, agencies, schools, community groups and coalitions.

What services are provided by Prevention Services?

Parent education is offered through consultations and parenting or co-parenting classes. Prevention staff can meet with parents to discuss topics such as child development, behavior management, coping with stressful events, and communication. Consultations and classes also are available for parents of children newborn through high school. Get a list of classes.

Childcare or preschool consultations are available at the request of a teacher or parent. Prevention staff will visit a child’s classroom to observe behavior, design a strategy for behavior improvement and meet with teacher and parent to share information.

Workshops for parents and professionals on topics that include parenting issues, stress management, substance abuse prevention and strategies for school success are offered by Prevention Services speakers.

Programs for youths are offered in school and community settings. Topics include setting goals for the future, coping with divorce, managing strong feelings, and resisting pressure to use alcohol, tobacco and other drugs.

Communication consultation and classes for couples provides tools for strengthening communication and maintaining healthy relationships.
