Medical Services

Medical Services is an outpatient program that provides psychiatric assessments and medication evaluations for consumers of Chesterfield Mental Health Support Services who may benefit from use of psychiatric medications to help achieve their recovery goals. Assistance with access to medications to eligible consumers is also provided.

What services are provided by the Medical Services program?
Medical Services offers support to consumers who need medication as one component of a comprehensive package.

Psychiatric evaluations determine diagnosis and evaluate the potential appropriateness of psychotropic medication.

Medication management provides on-going evaluating, prescribing, dispensing, monitoring of appropriate medications.

Medication education provides information about proper medication regimen, medication effects, side effects and contra-indications, or reasons why use of a particular medication is inadvisable.

Psychiatric consultations are available. Psychiatrists regularly attend case staffing throughout the outpatient programs, are available for individual case consults and are involved in providing in-service trainings on the principles of psycho-pharmacology to appropriate Mental Health Support Services staff.

Appointments with a family nurse practitioner are scheduled for qualified uninsured consumers in need of physical health care.
