Cooperative ExtensionFood Preservation TipsThe Virginia Cooperative Extension's Family and Consumer Sciences programs are delivered to assist families and communities with critical issues related to economic stability and quality of life. Programming is focused primarily around three broad areas: nutrition and wellness; management, housing, and consumer education; and family and human development.
SCNEP - Smart Choices Nutrition Education ProgramThe SCNEP program enrolls members of food stamp households to participate in a series of educational lessons designed to address dietary needs for prevention of chronic disease and health promotion and to encourage wise use of food stamps and other resources. Extension Program Assistants deliver these lessons to individuals or groups based on their assessed needs. Nutritional needs of middle aged and older adults who are not eligible for WIC and EFNEP are targeted. CanningThe Virginia Cooperative Extension provides programs covering broad areas.
