Rider courtesy and rules of conduct
- Smoking is not allowed in the vans.
- Eating or drinking is not allowed unless required for health reasons.
- Alcohol or illegal drugs are not allowed.
- Abusive, threatening, or obscene language or actions is not permitted.
- The physical or mental abuse of other passenger or the driver is
not permitted.
- The petting of guide dogs or service animals is not permitted without
the permission of the owner.
- Audio equipment such as radios, cassette tapes or compact disks
is not permitted to be used without headphones.
- Passengers are not permitted to operate, or tamper with, any vehicle
equipment while on the van.
Causes for Suspension and or Removal from Program
- A passenger who engages in physical abuse or who causes physical
injury to another passenger or the driver, or who engages in other
illegal activities, is subject to immediate and permanent removal from
service, and possibly criminal prosecution.
- A passenger who engages in an activity that seriously disrupts service
operation may be subject to a suspension of service.
- A passenger who deliberately evades payment of fares may be subject
to a suspension of service.
- Any passenger who is suspended from service will be notified in
writing. An opportunity to appeal the suspension will be given to the
passenger.
- A passenger may be suspended for no-show or cancellation offenses.
The distributing agency or officials of the Access Chesterfield program
determine this.
- Service providers will be alerted immediately of all customer suspensions.
Appeals Process
- Customers will be notified initially by telephone and also by written
letter about any suspensions or removals from the program by the distributing
agency or officials of the Access Chesterfield program.
- If a customer is removed or suspended from service, the opportunity
is available to appeal the decision. All appeals must be received in
writing and submitted to Access Chesterfield. The address may be found
at the end of this page.
- An independent panel will review the appeal within 30 days of receipt
of the written appeal.
- The passenger will continue to receive service until the review
panel has made a determination.
- The passenger will be notified in writing of the appeal decision.
