Training Division 

The division consists of two work units:

The Training and Education Unit is responsible for meeting the entry level and annual training needs of the 597 career and volunteer members. The unit is staffed with the following:

  • Battalion Chief
  • 3 Captains
  • 1 Lieutenant (2 when recruit programs are in session)
  • 2 Training Specialist
  • 3 Administrative Support Staff
  • 1 Facilities Manager
  • Part-Time Instructor Cadre

 The core services provided: 

  • Entry Level Recruit Training
  • Incumbent Training
  • BLS and ALS Primary and Continuing Education Programs
  • Special Operations Training
  • Career and Officer Development
  • Training Facilities Maintenance
  • Entry Level Testing

The unit manages two facilities: 

Eanes Pittman Public Training Center – This shared facility is the primary administrative center for the division. The facility consists of:

  • 4 Dedicated classrooms
  • 4 Shared Expandable Classrooms
  • Full Gymnasium
  • Fitness Facility
  • Administrative Offices
  • Student Lounge
  • Locker Room Facilities
  • Production Studio
  • Library

Enon Practical Training Facility – This is a one hundred acre joint police and fire training facility. The fire training section consists of:

  • 5000 sq ft. Class A Burn Building
  • 2500 sq ft. Class B Burn Building
  • Training Tower
  • Training Support Buildings
  • Administrative Office and Classroom
  • SCBA Maze
  • Assorted exterior propane training props
  • Firefighter May-Day and Save Your Own Building
  • Vehicle Extrication Yard
  • Drafting Facility
  • Roof Ventilation Props
  • Confined Space and Hazardous Material Training Props

Technical Services Unit 

This unit is staffed by two firefighter/technicians and a video production specialist. The unit provides the following core services:

  • Photography and Video production
  • Production Studio Management
  • Historical Documentation
  • Technical Support to the Training Division and Operations
  • Command Simulation Development
  • Mobile Command Center
  • Supports the department Incident Management Team
