Fire and Life Safety House

Chesterfield Fire & E.M.S. purchased a fully operational training/teaching simulator, with the help of several sponsors. The Fire and Life Safety House is an actual "structure" where children learn about home fire safety in a realistic setting.

Children are taught vital lessons such as

  • crawl low in smoke
  • have a home escape plan and practice it
  • how to make an emergency call
  • many other home safety tips

For more information, or to schedule the Fire & Life Safety House, please contact the Fire & Life Safety Division at 804-748-1426 or email the Fire and Life Safety House

Fire Extinguisher Simulator

The fire extinguisher simulator is a great way to learn the proper handling and use of a fire extinguisher without the danger and mess. The simulator includes a screen and battery-operated extinguishers.

This is a great tool to teach

  • small business employees
  • civic groups
  • senior citizens
  • many more

For more information, call 804-748-1426.

Youth Fire Setter Prevention (YFP)

Many children are referred to this program by the Court System, but parents can bring their children to this program without a court order.

The program is free for juveniles, and their families, who engage in fire play, it

  • provides knowledge about fire safety and the consequences of misusing fire
  • identifies fire-play behaviors that can lead to fire setting.

It is our goal to give our youth all the information they need to make better, safer choices!

For more information, contact Lt. Jason Elmore, Community Programs Coordinator, at 804-318-8342.
