James “Jim” Holland was elected as the Dale District Supervisor on November 6, 2007, and began his term of 4 years on January 1, 2008.

Mr. Holland is a 20-year resident of Chesterfield County. Born in North Carolina, he received a Master’s in Business Administration in 1980 from North Carolina Central University and a Bachelor of Science degree from Fayetteville State University in 1979.

Holland served in the United States Army at Fort Bragg, North Carolina from January 1972 until December 1974, in the 18th Airborne Corp, 118th Military Police Company as a Paratrooper and Military Police Officer during the de-escalation of the Vietnam War.

Mr. Holland is the President of Holland & Company, CPA located in Chesterfield County. He is retired from Philip Morris USA International. He is also a Professor of Accounting and Advisor at Virginia Commonwealth University.

He is a member of the Chesterfield Democratic Party and has been an active member in several organizations, including American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and Virginia Society of CPAs. Mr. Holland is active in many civic organizations including Chesterfield County Drug and Alcohol Abuse Task Force, Parent-Teacher Association, Chesterfield County District, Vice President. He is also a Deacon and Sunday School Teacher at First Baptist Church Centralia.

Mr. Holland was appointed as a Board of Commissioner for the Virginia Public School Authority by Gov. Mark Warner in 2002, and later appointed as Chairman by Gov. Tim Kaine in 2008.

Mr. Holland and his wife, Judith, a teacher for Chesterfield County Public Schools, have two children, both of whom graduated from Chesterfield County Public Schools.
