County Application Process

A Chesterfield County application is required for each announced vacancy and must be received by 5pm on the closing date. (Please note the job title, department location and requisition number for personal reference when inquiring about the status of a position.)
- Applicants for all full-time positions and part-time positions that are safety sensitive or serving juveniles who have received a conditional offer of employment will be subject to a criminal background check. The background check will include fingerprinting which will be forwarded to the FBI.
- Chesterfield County Government will run all DMV record checks. For positions requiring driving, applicant DMV record must not reflect a total accumulation of six or more negative points within the past three years or a major violation within the past four years.
- Applicants applying for all full-time positions and part-time positions designated as safety sensitive, and Commercial driver's license (CDL) positions will be required to take a drug test prior to employment, in accordance with the County's Alcohol and Substance Abuse Policy. Employment will be contingent upon results of the test.
- Internal Recruitment Positions for County Employees can be found by visiting the internal CountyNet site.
- A Social Security card and I-9 information (Employment Eligibility) will be required at time of employment.
