Color Guard/Honor Guard: participates in
local parades, fairs and special events.

Court Tours: The Sheriff's Office provides
tours of the following courts: General District, Circuit and Juvenile
and Domestic Relations to various organizations, clubs, schools, churches,
Police Academy recruits, JROTC Cadets, foreign exchange students, etc.

Jail Tours: The Sheriff's Office provides
tours of our jail to various organizations, clubs, schools, churches,
Police Academy recruits, JROTC Cadets, foreign exchange students, etc.

Play-it-Safe Program: The Sheriff’s
Office conducts child identification programs throughout the year at
the request of school and community organizations. This program
utilizes digital technology to capture photographs and save them to a
disk. The disk also contains vital information regarding the child
for the parent to complete. This program is conducted at no charge
to the community.

Inmate Outreach Program: This proactive
program challenges young people about the choices they make and the consequences
of these choices. The value of educational achievement and importance
of goal setting are highlighted through the Sheriff's Deputies and the
inmate that is brought to the schools.

School/Community Presenter: The Sheriff's
Office will send a member of the Sheriff’s Office to interact with
the schools and the community in numerous ways, such as graduations, career
days, fairs, various scout troops, and other public speaking engagements.

Seniors-In-Touch Program: A program that
enables Sheriff's Deputies to monitor the needs and well being of local
home bound senior citizens through weekly visits and phone calls.
 
TRIAD: The agreement of the law enforcement
agencies in the County (Sheriff's Office, Police Department), the Senior
Citizens, and businesses/organizations in the community to work together
to reduce the criminal victimization of senior citizens and to enhance
their quality of life. TRIAD provides crime prevention presentations as
well as conferences where the seniors can come together for a free, fun-filled
safety day.

Virginia Hunter Safety Education Program: A free three-night
course held at the courthouse in conjunction with the Department of Game
and Inland Fisheries. Classes are offered to the public of all ages in
order to increase awareness of hunter safety. Upon passing this course,
you are given a Virginia Hunter Safety Certificate, which enables you
to apply for a Hunting license.
