Community Information – The Chesterfield County Community Indicators Report divides the county into 25 distinct geographies in order to track various community-level indicators on housing, population and crime.
Demographic Information – The population of Chesterfield County was estimated to be 311,000 as of January 1, 2008. The county’s population is projected to grow to 324,000 by 2010 and 386,000 by 2020.

Chesterfield County American Community Survey Data – Each year the U.S. Census Bureau surveys a small sample of households in Chesterfield to produce estimates of age, race, education, income, poverty and other important demographic and social characteristics.
2000 Census Report – This report, published by the Planning Department in 2003, highlights demographic and economic trends in Chesterfield identified by the U.S. Census. Economic Information – As of January 1, 2008, there was over 68 million square feet of Commercial and Industrial development in Chesterfield County. In 2007, new construction added 1,140,250 square feet of commercial and industrial space.

Housing Information – As of January 1, 2008, there were 99,101 single family and 20,060 multi-family housing units in Chesterfield County. Housing construction in 2007 resulted in 1,345 new single family units and 345 new multi-family units, bringing the county total to 119,161 units.
Housing Units Added 1997-2007
Housing Sales 1997-2007 – In 2007, the number of new homes sold in Chesterfield totaled 1,206 at an average cost of $399,797. The number of resales was 4,979, with an average cost of $260,410.
Housing Potential – New zoning in 2008 increased the potential number of housing units by over 9,000. This table and map show the potential number of additional housing units for selected large residential projects. Not all subdivisions in the county with available lots are shown.
