Clover-Hill---Art-WarrenArt Warren has served the citizens of Chesterfield County for 20 years. He has represented the Clover Hill District on the Board of Supervisors since 1992, after serving on the Chesterfield Planning Commission for four years. He was elected as Board Chairman in 1993, 1997, 2000, 2003, 2008 and 2009. He holds a Master of Science degree in urban planning and an undergraduate degree in history and political science and graduated from the Virginia Institute of Political Leadership at the University of Virginia. In undergraduate school, Mr. Warren was elected president of the student body, treasurer of the Methodist Student Fellowship, selected to Top Ten Seniors, and Who’s Who Among Students in American Colleges and Universities. Warren was a graduate assistant at the University of Tennessee and is the 1994 recipient of the Local Official Award by the Virginia Chapter of the American Planning Association.
Warren was elected as Chairman of the Richmond Regional Planning District Commission and the Metropolitan Transportation Planning Organization. He is the former executive director of the Rappahannock-Rapidan Planning District Commission and Director of Planning for the Crater Planning District Commission.

Warren was elected Chairman of the Richmond International Airport Commission in 2001-2002 during the time when airports throughout the United States were dealing with 9-11 and major security concerns following 9-11. He has served on the Airport Commission for 16 years.

Warren was initially elected to the Virginia Association of Counties (VACo) Board of Directors in 1992 and served on the board for 14 years. He currently serves as Chairman of the VACo Energy Policy Task Force. Warren also served on the Virginia Coalition of High Growth Communities, the Richmond Metropolitan Convention and Visitors Bureau, and co-chaired two Chamber of Commerce inner-city tours of private sector and elected officials.

Warren was appointed to the Greater Richmond Partnership, Inc. in 2000, which consists of public and private sector leaders promoting job and business growth in the Richmond Metropolitan Area. He was elected Chairman of the Partnership’s Marketing Committee and was elected as Chairman of the Partnership’s Board of Directors in 2006 – 2007.

In his full time job as Assistant Director, Preparedness Division, and Manager, Radiological Emergency Response Planning for the Virginia Department of Emergency Management, he works with all nuclear facilities within Virginia, including Department of Defense nuclear facilities and Dominion-Virginia Power’s nuclear power plant program. He has a wide range of experience conducting training sessions on homeland security and has participated in Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), Nuclear Energy Institute (NEI) and the Harvard School of Public Health training classes. Warren is a member of the Institute of Nuclear Materials Management (INMM), the American Nuclear Society (ANS) and the American Planning Association.

Warren was appointed by Congressman Eric Cantor to serve on the Seventh Congressional District Homeland Security and Safety Council studying ways to make the region safer from terrorism and was also appointed by three Virginia governors to serve as state liaison officer to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission representing the Commonwealth of Virginia on matters of public health and safety and homeland security.

Warren has also served on the Virginia Efficiency in Government Commission and Virginia Streamline in Government Commission as a staff representative.

He has been a member of the Chesterfield Republican Committee for 24 years and served as Treasurer of the Congressional District Republican Committee for two years. He wrote environmental policy position papers for three gubernatorial campaigns during the 1980’s - 1990’s. Art and Linda Warren have three grown children and four grandchildren.
