The 2nd annual Canine Carnival will be held Oct. 29, 2011 at the Chesterfield County Fairgrounds. The event will offer games, activities and treats for people and dogs.
Dog owners are invited to enter their pups in a Halloween costume contest. Judging will occur during three time frames, download a schedule of events (one entry per canine.) There will be music, food, pet-product vendors, rescue groups and lots of dogs available for adoption.
The Canine Carnival is a fundraiser event for the Chesterfield Employees Association, which provides social events for county employees throughout the year. The Chesterfield Federal Credit Union and PetSmart sponsored the event. The association receives no funding from the county, and relies on fundraising to provide activities such as Lunch on the Lawn, Donut Days and shaved-ice giveaways. Ongoing fundraisers include the sale of Chesterfield County apparel, tote bags and Christmas ornaments.
The Chesterfield County Animal Shelter, the Chesterfield County Humane Society, the Richmond Animal League and other local animal-rescue groups will bring plenty of adoptable dogs that are in need of a home. The CEA is also making a donation to the county animal shelter with proceeds from the carnival.
Mark your calendars, the Canine Carnival will be held on October 29, 2011 from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. at the county fairgrounds, 10300 Courthouse Road. Admission is $5 per person, and children 12 and younger are admitted free. For details or questions, please call 804-768-7550.
