What new services are available on the Web?

You can check permit status, plan review comments and inspection results as well as, schedule, reschedule and cancel inspections.

I have always been able to get my plan review comments and inspection history on the website, what's changed?

The new service allows plan review comments and inspection results to be available within minutes regardless of project status. Previously all comments and results were not available until after 5:00 p.m. and only for active permits.

How late in the day can I schedule an inspection in order for the inspector to come the following business day?

Next business day inspections must be scheduled prior to 8:00 p.m. of the previous business day.

How late in the day can I cancel an inspection?

Inspection requests must be cancelled prior to 8:00 p.m. of the previous business day.

Do I need a list of inspection codes in order to schedule an inspection?

No. The permit type dictates the list of available inspections that will be displayed on the Web.

How many days in advance can I schedule an inspection?

Inspections can be scheduled up to five business days in advance.

Can I schedule my inspections and get my results on my handheld device or cell phone?

If you have Internet access, you can access the program. The screens are not formatted specifically for those devices and you may need to resize the screen. We will plan for this in a future enhancement.

I have several active permits that I want to schedule inspections on. Do I have to enter each permit number separately?

No. Simply enter your Customer PIN and it will return your list of active permits. There will be a checkbox beside each permit. You may select one at a time from that list.

I am a contractor and have selected my list of permits by using my Customer PIN. Now that I have the list can I select multiple boxes in order to schedule the same inspection type on each permit?

As each inspection is given a unique confirmation number, you may schedule one inspection at a time.

I am a homeowner and want to check the plan review comments or inspection results of my builder. I don't have a Customer PIN. How can I review the comments on my job?

Those comments are still available by using our original service Plans Review and Inspection Comments – Look-up where the comments are updated after 5:00 PM. In this case all you need is the permit number.

I am an architect or developer and want to follow the plan review comments of a job that I designed. I don't have the contractor's Customer PIN, how can I review those comments?

Those comments are still available by using our original service Plans Review and Inspection Comments – Look-up, where the comments are updated after 5:00 PM. In this case all you need is the permit number.

How do I know when you are observing a holiday so that I know when to schedule an inspection?

View our IVR-Web Holiday Schedule.

Can I apply for a permit and pay my fees on the Web?

Not yet. In the future, we intend to expand our Web services to include permit applications, plan review submittal, and payments for services to our customers.

My job completed last month, will I be able to look up the past plan review or inspection history?

Yes. The new service provides project review and inspection results regardless of permit status.

The BI website times out after 10 minutes, is there a quick way to refresh my screen?

Yes. While on the web-page, hit F5 on your keyboard. It will refresh the session and return you to the first page of Permit Status, Inspection Scheduling and Results where you enter the permit number and PIN number. If that doesn't work, try back a little later. It may be that we are making further improvements to our website.
