About the Bon Air Special Area Plan

The Bon Air Special Area Plan will build upon the foundation laid by Moving Forward – The Comprehensive Plan for Chesterfield County.

The current Bon Air Community Plan was adopted in 1986, nearly 30 years ago! Since then, many changes have occurred in the general area and across the county, including adoption of a new countywide plan.

The Bon Air Special Area Plan will bring base land use recommendations within the plan geography into conformance with the countywide land use plan, recognize and protect the unique qualities of the area, address community issues, and identify opportunities to enhance the area.

The Bon Air Special Area Plan will include an extensive community engagement effort to ensure that the plan guides future growth and development in a way that meets the vision of the people that live, work and play there. Once adopted, this special area plan will become an amendment to the county’s overall comprehensive plan.

The intent of this project is to provide the Planning Commission and the Board of Supervisors with recommendations regarding the plan, along with implementing ordinances and other tools.
