Chesterfield County Board of Supervisors

Bermuda District Supervisor Richard M. “Dickie” King, Jr. has served on the Board of Supervisors since January 2004. He served as vice chairman of the Board in 2005 and as chairman in 2006.

He is a lifelong resident of Chesterfield County and received a Bachelor of Science degree in education from the University of Mississippi, where he majored in Biology.

King is a former teacher and head coach at College Hill Academy in Oxford, Mississippi and in the Chesterfield County Public School System. The owner of Kings Korner Enterprises, Inc., he has catered events for many people, including dignitaries such as President and Mrs. George Bush, Sr. and General Norman Schwarzkopf.

He is a charter member of the Chesterfield County Chamber of Commerce and has been active in numerous civic organizations, including the South Richmond Rotary. He attends Colonial Heights Baptist Church.

He currently serves as Chairman of the Richmond Regional Planning District Commission and the Richmond Metropolitan Transportation Planning Organization, and is a member of the Henricus Foundation Board, the Capital Region Airport Commission, the Crater Planning District Commission, and Virginia's Gateway Region Board.

King is married to the former Alena Chernykh.  He has five children and four grandchildren.

Prior to representing the Bermuda District on the Board of Supervisors, he served for over seven years on the Chesterfield County Airport Advisory Board and also served as a Chesterfield County Special Police officer and a Board member on the Police Foundation.
