Dorothy A. Jaeckle was elected as the Bermuda District Supervisor on November 6, 2007, and began her term of 4 years on January 1, 2008.
She has resided in Chesterfield County since 1980. She spent 12 years as the Bermuda District representative on the Chesterfield Committee on the Future, including a term as Chair, developing strategies for long-term county challenges such as neighborhood preservation, economic development, youth services and the rising senior citizen population.
She has also served the community in numerous other capacities. Active in school issues, she has held many positions including School Board liaison, Vice President of the Chesterfield County Council of PTAs, parent representative on the School Improvement Teams at Curtis Elementary and Thomas Dale High School, and Chair of the After-School Enrichment Program at Curtis.
From 2001 to 2002 she served as the parent representative appointed by the Speaker of the House on the Senate Joint Resolution Commission on Educational Responsibility. She was also appointed by Governor Gilmore to serve on the Advisory Council on the Virginia Business-Education Partnership from 1996 to 2003. Governor Allen appointed Ms. Jaeckle to the State Department of Education Advisory Board for Teacher Education and Licensure in 1996 where she served for three years.
She served for six years in various positions on the Chester Recreation Association Board of Directors and is an active member at Grace Lutheran Church in Chester.
Ms. Jaeckle and her husband Ron have four children. All four children (Kate, Beth, Jeff and Carrie) attended Curtis Elementary, Chester Middle, and Thomas Dale High School. Kate is a William and Mary graduate and a benefits consultant in northern Virginia. After graduating from UVA, Beth returned to Thomas Dale to teach history and coach field hockey and soccer. Jeff and Carrie are currently attending the University of Virginia.
