Information about parent support groups and other resources for parents are provided following the parenting classes listings. (Fees for classes offered by Prevention Services are negotiable)

PARENTING CLASSES FOR SPECIAL SITUATIONS
ADHD: A Parent's Tool Kit

Offers parents/caregivers the tools to help raise a child with ADHD and gives them the opportunity to talk with other parents about common concerns in an informal atmosphere. Topics include: Talking to the child, helping the child develop positive and decrease negative behaviors, teaching the child to manage their feelings and help promote their success in school.

Skill-Building and Support Group

For Children with ADHD/ADD

Age appropriate group sessions for children with ADHD and ADD to help them understand and develop skills for success.

Topics include organization, staying focused, thinking before acting and managing feelings.

OUR Space:

Support for Teens Recovering From Loss

This ongoing support group is for adolescents, 13-17 who are experiencing grief following the death of a parent or sibling. It provides information about grief and coping strategies.

It is recommended that group attendance begin six weeks to two years after the loss.

Living Apart Parenting Together

For Parents Not Living Together

This is a four-hour (two 2-hour sessions) educational parent seminar, focusing on the needs of children during the stressful time of parental separation or divorce.  This nationally acclaimed program was developed with the goal of lessening the negative impact of children being reared by parents who live in separate homes.
